Fed: NSW should decide weapons to be banned says Vanstone

Justice Minister AMANDA VANSTONE has suggested that New South Wales get together with other
states and territories and decide what items should be declared prohibited imports.

The suggestion follows reports that Customs officers have been told not to seize weapons
such as knives and crossbows that are banned under NSW law but not under Commonwealth law.
