NSW: Woman burned at Lindfield

A woman has burns to 60 per cent of her body after a fire broke out in a north Sydney
unit complex last night.

Police say a resident of the unit block at Lindfield, in Sydney's north, reported the
stairwell fire about 7.30pm.

Closer examination revealed a 47-year-old woman had been engulfed by flames.

The woman was rescued from the stairwell and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in
a critical condition.

Chatswood police are appealing for witnesses to the fire to come forward.
